ONE MAN SHOW
Bucuresti 2026
The project offers a visual inquiry into contemporary Romania, approached as a space shaped by overlapping realities, contrasts, and ongoing transformation. Photography operates both as a mode of attentive observation and as a means of questioning how reality is perceived, inhabited, and remembered.
Rather than attempting an exhaustive or illustrative account, the project focuses on fragments of reality that carry symbolic resonance: seemingly ordinary spaces, everyday gestures, and traces of time and human presence. Together, the images articulate a sensitive reading of a landscape in constant flux, where past and present coexist in subtle and often unexpected configurations.
The artistic approach unfolds through a dialogue between documentary and staged photography, treated as complementary rather than opposing strategies. Direct observation is combined with artistic intervention, allowing existing situations to be reinterpreted and visually reconfigured. In the space between the observed and the constructed, reality becomes both the subject and the material of artistic enquiry.
Themes of memory, identity, belonging, and visibility gradually emerge through the sequencing of the images rather than through an explicitly defined narrative. Viewers are invited to experience the exhibition as an open-ended journey shaped by association, recognition, and personal interpretation. Photography thus functions not merely as a means of representation, but as a form of visual enquiry capable of prompting reflection and dialogue.
At its core, the project is an exercise in looking and paying attention. Photography becomes a space of encounter between personal and collective experience, between the present and what continues to endure beyond it.
By bringing together visual research and artistic practice, the project proposes an accessible framework for engaging with contemporary realities. It seeks to reach a wider public while situating the artistic project within a broader educational and cultural context.
